Magnificent Color Book from 1692

May 6, 2014

271 Years Before Pantone, an Artist Mixed and Described Every Color Imaginable in an 800-Page Book

Artist “A. Boogert” wrote this book about mixing watercolors in 1692. He explains how to create certain hues and change the tone by adding water.

This could be considered the original Pantone Color Guide, first published in 1963.
